Back in 2007 Kinorigo supplied a project right in the setting of the well known history event ‘The battle of Hastings’ sits battle abbey, Kinorigo supplied the project with lovely Shell limestone tiles for the reception area. Complete with colourful lighting these tiles were the perfect choice.
Kinorigo worked on this project together with the architect to achieve the desired finish and also the slip-resistance required. The finish of the shell limestone tiles was antiqued – a finish that means the stone has been made to look aged or like an antique. This was the winner because the rough antiqued finish presents a brilliant slip resistance – which was perfect for this public space.
The ‘worn look’ of Shell Antique limestone tiles create a stunning atmosphere. The tile choice matches the theme of the Battle of Hastings and 1066 perfectly. At Kinorigo we love British history and limestone rock can be found in various places throughout the British isles, one example being the white cliffs of Dover – displaying the whiteness of the limestone before it is quarried.
Shell has been a popular limestone tile, the finishes available include a brushed finish – where the stone is literally ‘brushed’ and the stone is left bumpy but smoothed off and natural by the technique. Another finish in the range is tumbled where the stone is put into a large machine and tumbled round and round, chipping off any loose edges and creating an antique or worn look. Unfortunately we don’t supply the antiqued finish anymore but the tumbled finish looks just as good. If you’re specifically after an antiqued stone go ahead and use the filters on the website to show only the antiqued stone, or hand-worn finishes.
